Identifying and Highlighting Intensity of Fruit in Specialty Coffee
We all love to find coffees with dynamic, compelling fruit flavors, and in this guided roasting and tasting experience we'll explore together what makes coffees taste fruity, how to identify those flavors on a cupping table, and explore how the fruit intensity changes as the roast profiles change.
For this event, the Cafe Imports team has selected three coffees that express "intense" fruitiness, based on the internal cupping criteria used by our Sensory Analysis department. That same department will provide you with two roast profiles for each coffee, in order to show how certain aspects of the roasting process will affect that intensity in the cup. Find out what we mean by "intensity" and learn more about our evaluation process by joining sensory analysis director Ian Fretheim for an in-depth discussion during the event. We will also hear more about the sourcing behind each coffee, in addition to simply enjoying the coffees themselves.
How it works:
This event is open to Roasteries (and staff) based in USA and Canada.
You will need access to an IKAWA Sample Roaster to take part.
Signups will close on 23 November 2020, a confirmation email will be sent to you, and Cafe Imports will send samples to participants week starting 30 November 2020.
You will need to roast your coffees and cup ahead of the LIVE event via Zoom which will take place on 15 December 2020 - 1pm PST/3pm CST/4pm EST. An email will all the information necessary will be sent to the confirmed participants.
